Like BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM much earlier and PATIALA HOUSE more recently, SPEEDY SINGHS also looks at the generation gap between the older generation [Anupam Kher, in this case], who hold tightly to traditional values and the younger generation [Vinay Virmani], who have already adapted themselves to the adopted country [Canada]. SPEEDY SINGHS has a plot you can connect with instantly, but the film suffers on varied counts. The writing is patchy, the characters are superficial, the drama doesn't work and even the culmination to the story, which should've been the hallmark, lacks the fizz to make you jump with joy. The film, very honestly, comes across as a poor clone of the successful Gurinder Chadha movie BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM.On the whole, SPEEDY SINGHS fails to deliver.Read moreReview by: Nikhat Kazmi Site: TimesOfIndia Ratings: 3/5
Speedy Singhs is a smart little surprise package. It's a cheerful film that makes you smile with its subtle humour, its repartee-filled screenplay, its deftness at handling the umpteen relationships and its finely-nuanced performances.A little more spice and edge to the delineation of the game itself would have made the film an action-packed adventure too. Nevertheless, Speedy Singhs, with a guest appearance by Akshay Kumar (as himself), is an entertaining watch.Read moreReview by: Preeti Arora Site: Rediff Ratings: 3/5

There is no subtle way of saying this. Speedy Singhs has nothing new to offer us whether it's the struggle to buy uniforms, or the coach changing captains to tone down egos. Yet, the film is refreshing and manages to hold your interest.Speedy Singhs is about the tiny nuances of NRIs, their ambitions, their goals, their frustrations, their hopes and dreams. If you are looking out for an original script, give this a miss. But if you enjoy family dramas, with lots of laughs and tears go for this.Read more
Speedy Singhs is a pile-up of classic dog-eared cliches that rob the film of any possibility of striking flashes of revelation. If you happen to be in the mood for charity, you could actually look at this entire concoction quite differently. Speedy Singhs derives its plot conventions from a multiplicity of genres. It’s a sports flick, a family drama, a Hollywood rom-com and a fluffy, feel-good Bollywood ride all rolled in one. Take your pick.Lead actor Vinay Virmani, likeable on the screen, turns in a competent performance, as do Kher and Lowe. American actress Camilla Belle, Canadian stand-up comedian Russell Peters and Indian-American actress Noureen DeWulf do their best within the limitations of the screenplay. But as with much else in Speedy Singhs, they end up being caricatures.Review by: Daily Bhaskar Site: Dainik Bhaskar Ratings: 3/5

Speedy Singhs’ evokes mixed responses, when it comes gauging it. The film falls flat in terms of writing, as it bears an uncanny resemblance to films like ‘Bend it Like Beckham’, ‘Patiala House,’ which makes it quite predictable.3 Ups and 3 Downs: Witty dialogues, music, screenplay and decent performances are the strengths of the film. Predictable storyline, language barrier in the terms of English being the language that's primarily spoken throughout the flick, are the weak points. On the whole, ‘Speedy Singhs’ promises to tickle your funny bone with its fine comedy, but a word of caution, it's surely not for masses and that might affect its collections at the box-office.Review by: SuperGoodMovies Site: SuperGoodMovies Ratings: 2.5/5

Speedy Singhs is a refreshing watch with just the right amount of masala. There’s romance, humour, emotions just in the right mix. People will relate to it in one way or the other and then they have added Russel Peters which is a big plus.Cannot say that the film was wow in terms of technicalities but yes it was decent enough. The Punjabi music is foot-tapping specially the last number that Akshay Kumar grooves on. RDB and Ludacris are mind boggling. The story however, reminds you of many films that we have seen before like ‘Patiala House’ and ‘Bend It Like Beckam’. Plus Points: - Performances- Dialogues- MusicMinus Points: - Old StoryVerdict: Worth a watch for its humour. Read more
