Helmed by Sagar Ballary, HUM TUM SHABANA tilts more towards the GOLMAAL brand of non-stop laughathons than the BHEJA FRY variety, which Ballary is known for. Ballary shifts lanes this time, attempting a madcap entertainer that throws logic out of the window. He opts for a plot that abounds in ludicrous situations, with a twist in the tale towards the post-interval portions. But it is this twist that blows the impact created by an immensely watchable first hour. On the whole, HUM TUM SHABANA is a good idea gone wrong! It has a funny first half, but a disappointing second hour. Read more

Sagar Ballary sure seems to be losing his expertise at Bheja Frying with comedies that are meant to tickle the rib, without being slapstick. Like the Bheja Fry films, Hum Tum Shabana too is meant to make you laugh. But the entire first half slips through without eliciting a single smile. Designed as an extended beauty pageant, with umpteen non-happening rounds, this section of the film revolves around the goofy attempts of the two suitors to win the hand - and attention - of the girl they seem to be smitten with.End result? Just time-pass. Read more

Hum Tum Shabana breaks the rules of a regular love triangle with a twist, but falls flat in its execution. The messy screenplay takes the toll, especially post the interval. The flick gets its first blow when Minissha Lamba, who's barely 5 feet 2 inches tall, participates in a beauty pageant which is completely indigestible. To top it all, Tusshar and Shreyas turn out to be very non-impressive in the terms comic-timing.3 Ups and 3 Downs: The concept, moderate performances by actors and cinematography are the strengths of the film. A clumsy screenplay, lacklustre music and dialogues leave one numb.On the whole, Hum Tum Shabana can be easily given a miss. Read more
