Rascals', a third-rate comedy that borders on the offensive.David Dhawan, who’s no purveyor of good taste, plumbs new depths of crassness with this expectedly insensitive film that’s so short on real jokes that it makes light of everything from starving orphans in Somalia to the physically handicapped.Rascals, as it turns out, is an infuriatingly unfunny film. Unless grown men making silly faces is your idea of comedy.I’m going with one out of five for director David Dhawan’s Rascals. Donate your cash to charity instead of wasting it on this wretched film!Read moreReview by: Taran Adarsh Site: BollywoodHungama Ratings: 3.5/5
RASCALS is strictly for the hoi polloi, those who relish masala entertainers with glee, those with an appetite for movies that transport them to a different world in those hours spent in the dark auditorium, those who swear by movies that defy logic, motive and intellect. Do you think you fit into this description of a moviegoer? If you do, RASCALS is just for you. A number of sequences are outrageously funny, mainly in the first hour. It's only towards the second hour that the films dips, the jokes aren't as funny and the pacing slows slightly. On the whole, RASCALS is a madcap, over the top, zany entertainer aimed at the masses. It's hilarious and outrageous from commencement to conclusion. If this kind of humor appeals to you, then there are chances that you will relish this one!Read moreReview by:Nikhat Kazmi Site:TimesOfIndia Ratings:2.5/5
David DhawanThe humour in Rascals is too loud and often unfunny while Kangna Ranaut is too hysterical and dumb-headed to evoke all the trouble and attention. Okay, so dumbness can be excused in Bollywood comedies which ostensibly revel in low IQ gags. Hence we'll pass Rascals and qualify it as a one-time watch returns to the screen after a prolonged hiatus. And sadly, he returns with a film that ain't too fresh and reminds you of his earlier venture, Deewana Mastana, with Govinda and Anil Kapoor trying to outwit each other in order to curry favour with Juhi Chawla.A word of advice to Kangna. Stick to serious roles and stay away from comedy.Tip Off: No brains, please, only popcorn. Read moreReview by: Sukanya Verma Site:Rediff Ratings: 1.5/5
Dhawan sponges a bunch of comedies from his own stable and outside to rustle up a series of misadventures that are dumb, dated and dreary. But that's not its only problem. Rascals, with no structure or motive, cannot (rather does not even try to) conceal its desperation to make itself funny. And this insecurity shows in each and every gag.Last but not the least; let me draw your attention to the most offensive aspect of Rascals. Its women. Both Kangna and Lisa Haydon are reduced to pea-brained ob-jects of lust with absolutely no self-respect for themselves or their tribe. And so when Dutt equates Kangna's shrill cries to a dog's yelp after someone steps on its tail, you simply nod in agreement. Read moreReview by:Martin D Souza Site:Glamsham Ratings:3/5
Pay your ticket fare, buy your popcorn and take your seat. RASCALS does not promise to involve you in the scheme of things. However, it does promise entertainment. If you go looking for logic or loopholes, you'll find plenty. If you just want to have a good time, RASCALS gives you that. And a few good laughs as well.David Dhawan unleashes the two senior pros and lets them have a blast. His comedies of the past may have made a mark, but this one, though lacking in punch, delivers in panache.RASCALS is what the film promises... buy your ticket, take your popcorn, and get set for a situational comedy.Read moreReview by: IANS Site: NDTV Ratings: 1.5/5
film looks like one long excuse to let the camera ogle at semi-nude female figures in Thailand and Bangkok. The laughter, if it was ever intended, is strictly incidental. The gags in Rascals are so stale and tasteless and the situational comedy so devoid of any kind of originality or freshness, you wonder if David Dhawan just made this unfunny comedy to please his friends who play the major roles in the film.Wanted urgently: A makeover for David Dhawan's brand of comedy. Seriously, this comedy is not funny.Review by: Komal Nahata Site: Koimoi Ratings: 1.5/5

What’s Good: A few comic scenes; the ‘Shake it saiyyan’ song.
What’s Bad: Lack of a cohesive story; hotch-potch screenplay; irritating dialogues.
Verdict: Rascals is a poor comedy which will fail to make its mark.
Loo break: Not really.Watch or Not?: Watch Rascals if you can laugh at just about anything.Read more
